Hogan & Hartson LLP announced that its affiliated office in Hong Kong has completed its localization process and now practices Hong Kong law under the name Hogan & Hartson.

In connection with this process, the firm also has announced a new management structure for its Greater China practice. Effective July 10, 2009, Hogan & Hartson appointed Jun Wei and Steven Robinson as Co-Managing Partners of its Greater China practice. Wei and Robinson will focus primarily on coordination and direction of strategic planning and practice development. In addition, Gordon Ng will become the Managing Partner of the Hong Kong office, Roger Peng will be the Managing Partner of the Beijing office, and Arthur Mok will be the Managing Partner of the Shanghai office. Man Chiu Lee will serve as Administrative Partner of the Hong Kong office.

"We are grateful to the leaders in these offices for their dedication and continued willingness to oversee our China practice," said J. Warren Gorrell, Jr., Chairman of Hogan & Hartson. "The completion of the localization process in Hong Kong is very exciting news for our firm and good news for our clients in the region."

"The capital markets and M&A experience of our lawyers in the Greater China market, coupled with Hogan & Hartson’s dispute resolution and regulatory practice strength, better positions our firm to assist all companies throughout the region in substantial matters ranging from M&A, capital markets, and private equity, to compliance and regulatory work," added Robinson.

The core team of lawyers in Greater China represent multinational, Chinese, and other Asian clients engaged in a broad range of business transactions and regulatory and compliance matters. Particular strengths of the China practice include cross-border mergers and acquisitions; IPOs and capital markets; private equity and venture capital transactions, joint ventures and other investments; financings; infrastructure development and company restructurings; government regulation, with a significant focus on compliance and international trade; and intellectual property.

Client Testimonial

One of the best China lawyers based in Shenzhen! I appreciated this Shenzhen lawyer's service because they helped me achieved my goals, though it was a tough mission. They are English speaking lawyers, so there are absolutely no communication barrier you likely encounter elsewhere. What impressed me is these Shenzhen lawyer's quick response and professional service, two characteristics which I treasure most. Although the Shenzhen lawyers are based in south China, they represent clients across the country, so you can also call them China lawyer! - Johnson
