Preparing for China

News Update

After months of rigorous research by the ALB team, and a robust judging process, the ALB Award series for 2009 will culminate with the Hong Kong Law Awards 2009— the Hong Kong legal industry’s night of nights. It is our pleasure to reveal the finalists— the law firms, lawyers and in-house teams who will be vying for these illustrious awards. The finalists represent the who’s who of the legal industry across North Asia, from Hong Kong and Mainland China to Taiwan and Korea this year’s awards will see the inclusion of two new categories: the Korea Deal of the Year and Taiwan Deal of the Year. Not surprisingly, international law firms dominate the finalists list. Baker & McKenzie, Linklaters, Clifford Chance and Freshfields have, between them, been short listed in nearly 50 categories. Domestic law firms are also holding their own. Hong Kong native Deacons is up for 11 awards including the coveted Hong Kong law firm of the year while Kim & Chang— Korea’s largest firm by headcount— is also a strong contender in 11 categories. These firms, as well as all the other finalists, are being recognised for their exemplary counsel on the leading transactions in financial year 1 April 2008 - 31 March 2009. Awards in a total of 35 categories will be presented to firms, companies and individuals this year. The full list of finalists can be found on the Awards website, or by clicking here. The Awards gala will be held on 18 September at Conrad Hotel, Hong Kong. Reserve your seats at this glitzy banquet by clicking here.

Client Testimonial

One of the best China lawyers based in Shenzhen! I appreciated this Shenzhen lawyer's service because they helped me achieved my goals, though it was a tough mission. They are English speaking lawyers, so there are absolutely no communication barrier you likely encounter elsewhere. What impressed me is these Shenzhen lawyer's quick response and professional service, two characteristics which I treasure most. Although the Shenzhen lawyers are based in south China, they represent clients across the country, so you can also call them China lawyer! - Johnson
