News Update

Asian Legal Business (ALB) hosted the fifth annual Japan Law Awards on 28 May 2009 at the Ritz-Carlton Tokyo. Eminent Japanese law firms like Mori Hamada & Matsumoto, Anderson Mori & Tomotsune, and Nagashima Ohno & Tsunematsu stole the limelight. Likewise, foreign law firms were also recognised for their performance, with renowned firms like Davis Polk & Wardwell and Clifford Chance receiving 4 awards and 3 awards respectively. In addition to celebrating the excellence of law firms, the ALB Japan Law Awards 2009 also recognised outstanding in-house teams and financial organisations. Of worthy mention are financial institutions Nikko Citigroup and Morgan Stanley, which swept away a combined total of 11 awards. The year’s most coveted deal award – Japan Deal of the Year – was given to the MUFJ- Morgan Stanley Stake Acquisition deal. This deal was a favourite among judges for a number of reasons, not the least of which being the complex nature of a transaction that was one of the largest outbound investments by a Japanese company and was structured on a tight timeframe and to suit the changing economic climate. The full list of winners can also be found on the Awards website http://jp.albawards.legalbusinessonline.com/ and the complete guide to the who's who of the Japan legal profession, complete with analysis of why the winners were chosen by the independent panel and researchers, will be published in the June 09 issue of ALB magazine. Client Testimonial

One of the best China lawyers based in Shenzhen! I appreciated this Shenzhen lawyer's service because they helped me achieved my goals, though it was a tough mission. They are English speaking lawyers, so there are absolutely no communication barrier you likely encounter elsewhere. What impressed me is these Shenzhen lawyer's quick response and professional service, two characteristics which I treasure most. Although the Shenzhen lawyers are based in south China, they represent clients across the country, so you can also call them China lawyer! - Johnson
